Barbara Benincasa has worked in Xiwrite since 2001. She holds a degree in psychology from Rome University (La Sapienza) and is a certified psychologist with a specialist qualification in evaluation methodology. From 2001-2010 she worked first as a junior and then as a senior Project Manager in Xiwrite. In 2002-3 she led the data analysis for two evaluations of the outcomes of FADOL – Italy’s national program of distance learning for vocational education. In 2003 she coordinated a major Xiwrite project for ISFOL (the Italian national training agency) to develop a methodology for the evaluation of educational software From 2005-7 she was Xiwrite’s project coordinator for the European SISINE project (part of the Leonardo Program). She is currently providing consultancy to a number of projects in the Life Long Learning Programme and leading Xiwrite’s contribution in the OPTIMI and Neuromed projects. In February 2010, Ms. Benincasa became Managing Director of Xiwrite.

Richard Walker founded Xiwrite in 2000 and was the company’s Managing Director from then until February 2010. Originally an economist, he has worked many years in IT, first as a manager in Unisys and in the Telecom Italia group and then as an academic and as a consultant specialized in collaborative research. From 2006-2009 he led Xiwrite efforts in the SMS, PASION and Neurovers-IT projects. From 2004-5 he was personal assistant to the Coordinator in the Simplicity Project. From 2003-5 he was scientific coordinator of the European funded I-Learning Project. In parallel with this work he has maintained a strong interest in IT. From 1999 to 2003 he was a lecturer at the Faculty of Psychology at Università di Napoli II, teaching courses on “Artificial Intelligence” and “Data Analysis”. In 2005 he was guest professor at University of Cologne. In February 2010 he left his position as Managing Director to take on a a Senior Consultant position. He maintain’s his position as the company’s legal representative.

He graduated in electronic engineering in the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. He worked as technical director in several European research projects (RTS and FET in the 5th and 6th framework programmes) for Telecom Italia and Rome International University. Activities of his research focused the use of distributed sensor networks for environmental applications, the application of advanced data analysis like neural networks and ruled based systems for gas and liquid analysis. He leads several industrial projects for private IT companies: the most relevant was the design, development and implementation of a system for the analysis of flux of alarms in a broadband supply control system for TeleMediaInternational SpA (Telecom Italia Group). Since 2007 he has been a founding partner, CEO of Ecosens s.r.l. technological spinoff of University of Rome “Tor Vergata” and recently joined Xiwrite as technological consultant.
